Getting Started
- How do I get the boomering app?
Getting the boomering app is simple. If you have an Apple device, you can download the boomering app from the App Store here. If you have an Android device, you can download the boomering app from the Play Store here.
- The 4 digit code to verify my phone number never arrived - what do I do now?
If you did not receive the 4 digit code to your phone, please follow the prompts on the screen. Sometimes our SMS provider can be a bit delayed. Check that you have signal on your device and wait a few minutes before trying again. If you still are not having any luck, then please contact us at jon@boomeringapp.com and we will be happy to assist. Sorry for the inconvenience.
- Why are you asking me for all these permissions - access to my contacts, my microphone, my camera, and to send notifications?
We know that giving access to these things can be scary without understanding why, so let us explain how we use each of these permissions.
By accessing your contacts we can help you quickly identify people in your contact list who are already using boomering so you don't have to manually add all of your contacts into boomering one at a time. Don't worry - we won't ever contact them!
By accessing your microphone we enable you to send voice messages, which is the point of our app after all.
By accessing your camera we enable you to add your own profile picture, as well as, to add photos you have taken into your voice chat.
By asking to send you push notifications we can alert you to when your contact has sent you a boomering back so you can listen.
As with all our permissions, you can always decline or accept at any time. It's your app. We are just trying to help you get set up easily!
- Do I need to add a profile picture?
Not at all - but it will be easier for your contacts to find you if they can easily identify your contact because of your beautiful face.
Recording, Sending, & Deleting Messages
- How do I send a voice message?
To send a voice message, first select the contact or contacts who you want to send to. Next, hit the microphone button to start recording. You will see the timer starting to count how many seconds long your message is. When you are finished recording hit the stop button. When you are done recording you can choose to send, listen to it again, or delete the message and try again. Go on, give it a try!
- How do I find my family and friends on boomering?
To find your friends and family easily, you can give permissions for boomering to access your contact list. This will automatically populate your contacts who are on boomering. If you choose not to do this, you can also add your contacts one at a time. If they do not show up in your contact list, but you know they are on boomering, make sure you have their phone number correct.
- My family and friends aren't on boomering, can I invite them?
Of course! The more the merrier. We would love to see more of your friends and family on the app, so go ahead and tell them to download the app and get started today.
- Can I delete a message on boomering once it has been sent?
Yes, you can. Simply choose delete the message or the trash can symbol.
- Can I block a contact?
Yes. If you don't want to hear from someone simply chose to block their contact. They will not be able to contact you again from the same number unless you choose to unblock them.

- I want to close my boomering account - how do I do that?
We're sorry to see you go. If there is anything we can do to change your mind, please let us know. But, if you really want to leave - by deleting the boomering app you will automatically delete your account and all your stored messages. Your contacts will however still be able to listen to the messages from you. If you choose to open boomering again the future, you will have to re-pair your device.
